Children's Health Decreases Significantly |

The following is a summary and conclusion of a study conducted for the DAK, one of the largest health insurance companies in Germany . The study states that the health of our children is dramatically declining. Out of one hundred pediatricians involved 97% reported that over the last ten years psychological and behavioral problems have increased significantly. More and more girls and boys have ADHD, autism, are overweight and exhibit compromised motor skills. Children in elementary school between the age of six and eight show many health problems related to overweight. It was found that children between the ages of 3 and 5 have an alarming increase of motor disorders as well as speech and hearing problems. The study states that the cause of this development is due to unhealthy diet, lack of exercise and too much time spent in front of the TV and PC. The study also comments that all too often the parents set a poor example. 61% of the pediatricians reported insufficient sport activities in schools. Andreas Marx |
